COVID-19 updates

Christchurch is currently operating under the Red setting of the Covid-19 Protection Framework. All Recreation and Sport Centres are open as usual and are being safely operated in line with government guidelines with capacity limits. 

Fitness Centres and group fitness classes have capacity limits of up to 100 people or one metre distancing (whichever is lesser) per defined space. All other areas have capacity limits are based on one metre distancing.

Bookings are essential for group fitness, Tumbletimes and adult swimming lessons. Secure your spot. No booking is required to use the pool and Fitness Centre. 

Swimsmart lessons will start for term one on Monday 31 January. Bubbletimes and Sleepytimes are running as usual. 

Anyone aged 12 years 3 months and older entering Recreation and Sport facilities will require a My Vaccine Pass. Masks are required for entry and in all public shared spaces.

Beginner spin course

New to spin? Join us on our 4 week beginner course where you'll learn spin riding techniques and the correct way to set up your bike. 

  • Taiora QEII - starts on Tuesday 9 March, 5.30pm.
  • Pioneer - starts on Wednesday 10 March, 5.30pm.

Spin

For a fun and challenging ride, this spin class is ideal for those who want to test themselves on the bikes and gain a great cardiovascular and fat-burning workout in the process.

Virtual Spin

New to spin? How about trying out one of our virtual spin classes. Ride through a range of different sceneries displayed at the front of the room and receive visual and verbal cues as you ride to a great workout. 

Spin beginner

This four-week programme is aimed at those new to spin, who would like to step up and pedal hard. You’ll get a good workout while learning different aspects of spin training, including bike set up, technique, use of resistance, riding positions and intensity.

  • Virtual Spin - 30 to 50 minutes
