To help fund community facilities, the Local Government Act 2002 (LGA) allows a council to require development contributions if the effect of a development requires the council to provide new or upgraded infrastructure.
Today the Council approved the Development Contributions Policy 2021. This replaces the 2016 policy.
The new policy comes into effect from 1 August 2021 and will be available to view on this page after that time.
The Council adopted its current Development Contributions Policy [PDF, 1 MB] in September 2016.
The Council is required to have a policy that details its approach to requiring development contributions. The policy must provide information on how development contributions are assessed and how much the contribution required will be.
The policy must be reviewed at least every three years and can be reviewed at any time in addition to this review requirement. Any review of the policy must include a community consultation process that meets the requirements of section 82 of the LGA.
