Councillor for Halswell Ward.
A society grows strong when old men and women plant trees they will never sit under.
My decision to get involved in local body politics was motivated by a belief in the importance of leaving a positive legacy. I want my children and grandchildren to live in a community that is socially and environmentally healthy, in which residents feel a sense of connection and belonging.
This is my second term on Council.
In my roles as Chair of both Te Pae Pīkari (Youth Advisory Committee) and Tahua Taupua (Mayor's Welfare) I can champion the values that I hold dear.
I'm motivated to educate our young people in democratic processes by providing opportunities to engage with Council, encouraging active citizenship. I'm also motivated to strengthen our City’s reputation for compassion by providing a resource to meet need and address inequity.
In addition to the Council Committees as a Whole; I sit on the Multi-Cultural Committee, The Regulatory and Performance Committee, Civics Awards Committee, the Selwyn Waihora Water Management Zone Committee, the Adelaide Sister City Committee, the Champions Housing Group and the Museum Trust Board.
As your Councillor, I endeavour to engage, listen, and confidently represent the wishes and needs of the residents of Halswell and the city.
In my spare time I love spending time with my family (especially my grandchildren) and friends, being active (I've run a few half-marathons), reading, movie watching, and travelling.
I look forward to meeting you. Please feel free to contact me on 0276660233.
