After completing the school-age group lessons, children can progress into mini squads where the focus is on increasing water safety skills, swimming distance and technique.

Visiting Recreation and Sport Centres during Alert Level 1

All our centres are open. Capacity restrictions have been lifted so you can enjoy the pools, fitness centres and group fitness classes with friends and whānau.

You can book in for your group fitness class, including spin and aquafit. 

Bubbletimes, Sleepytimes, adult swim lessons and the full Swimsmart programme will resume from Monday 28 September. Swimsmart bookings are now open.

Tumbletimes, gymnastics and the Southern Centre are all open and running as normal.

Silver (45 minutes)

  • 200m freestyle

  • 100m breaststroke
  • 25m butterfly
  • 400m survival swim

Silver extension (60 minutes)

  • 400m Freestyle
  • 100m Individual Medley
  • 50m freestyle in under 1 minute
  • 200m survival swim in a lifejacket
  • Rough water safety sequence

Swim coaching programme

The coaching programme run at Jellie Park is managed and delivered by Born2swim Coaching Services Ltd. The programme begins at the Gold level and is a progression from the Swimsmart Silver extension class.

Swimmers have the opportunity to progress up through eight different levels/squads, with the top four squads all for fully competitive swimmers. All swimmers have the opportunity to experience racing from internal competitions to regional, national and international levels.
