The Christchurch Botanic Gardens is a living museum with our plants and displays transforming through the seasons.
The Government is asking for everyone to stay at home. Their advice is that you can go for a walk or exercise outdoors for a short time, but to stick to simple walks or exercise spots close to home.
We’ve closed all of our Council facilities until further notice, to support the Government’s fight against COVID-19. This includes the Botanic Gardens.

As the Botanic Gardens is a museum with a living collection, our displays and plants are always changing, depending on the time of year you visit. With a variety of gardens and collections over 21 hectares, the endless array of plants and flowers will activate all of your senses all year round.
The Gardens are home to an impressive collection of exotic and local flora and fauna from New Zealand and around the globe. With over 1 million visitors a year, the Botanic Gardens are not to be missed during your visit to the Garden City - add us to your itinerary!
